To support the business unit with Transport operations and compliance in association with Operators licencing, Driver checks, Vehicle audits, site operations and continuous improvement.

The role will extremely varied and require UK travel but will include duties such as investigations, driver / incident reviews to ascertain learning points and drive through industry best practice, whilst enforcing the transport policy across all active sites with the assistance of the Plant & Equipment manager and Operations Management team.



  • Ensure Operators licences and Centres are set up, authorised and in place prior to the works commencing with the assistance of the Plant & Equipment manager
  • Have a presents at the operating centre(s) that you are responsible for to ensure continuous management of the transport operations.
  • Assist the operating centre site teams with regards to transport obligations, queries raised and vehicles are being driven in accordance with the drivers licence and entitlements.
  • Be an active member in accident or driving misdemeanour investigations to determine cause and preventative measures going forward. 
  • Assist the Plant & HGV Co-Ordinator to Co-ordinate the 6 Weekly HGV Inspections, MOT’s, Servicing, Tax etc. of all licenced vehicles to a schedule and ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Carry out on site audits using the current Babcock Templates for vehicle compliance and look for improvements or recommendations to further develop the process and data capture. 
  • Conduct Tachograph downloads in accordance with legislation and Babcock processes
  • Work with the Plant & Equipment manager to develop existing processes to push forward continuous improvement with the fleet.
  • Assist the Plant & HGV Co-Ordinator to ensure vehicle and driver folders are updated and kept in-line with legal requirements
  • Ensure Vehicle details are updated and maintained for each licence, with changes completed within set time frames.
  • Ensure the drivers are completing and recording daily walk round vehicle checks, by participating in gate checks of all vehicle types. Information gathered then to be reviewed to ensure drivers are compliant with their roles and responsibilities as drivers.
  • Identify driver training requirements such as DCPC renewals
  • Ensure company compliance with regards to the towing of commercial and private trailers with all vehilces.
  • Conduct checks on Plant vehicles with the assistance of the on-site Fitters to ensure compliance with transport obligations.
  • Identify areas of improvements of drivers, policies, procedures and operations
  • Assist with driver appraisals each year
  • Produce learning alerts for the business with regards to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality with regards Transport obligations
  • Assist the Transport department in updating the company handbook for drivers.
  • Assist the Plant & Equipment manager in updating the annual training program for the HGV Drivers.
  • Participate in external audits regarding the transport operations for the business.
  • Liaise with contracted maintenance providers local to the operating centres to agree Babcock expectations, review any none compliance and put in place preventative measures when they arise.
  • Assist the operations management team to for fill transport duties for none licenced vehicles.
  • To undertake training courses deemed relevant by the Company as well as identifying any training needs with their Line Manager.
  • To actively participate in the annual Personal Development Review process and work towards all targets set.
  • Identify and highlight any unsafe practice to colleagues, visitors and management.
