The role
As an Trainer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll join a team of talented training professionals who deliver courses to Army students at all levels. The team delivers training using modern techniques and the latest learning technologies, providing students with the knowledge to ensure that they will be successful in their chosen trade. Within this role, you will be working as part of a highly motivated team, in a job that offers the highest level of job satisfaction along with an excellent work life balance.

 

Day-to-day you'll be responsible for all aspects of instruction and the students' learning experience:

 

  • The delivery of theory training course modules and practical training in basic engineering hand skills, including fitting, drilling and grinding
  • Creation of written examination, progress test papers and practical assessment/examination scenarios 
  • Ensuring student development through monitoring, feedback appraisal, discipline and training interventions
  • Ensuring all supporting documentation is updated and maintained
  • Application of Subject Matter Knowledge and Guidance to help develop teaching materials and support the course design process; 
  • Focus on Health and Safety and work in line with all policies and standard operating procedures
  • Supervise students and maintain classroom control

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and based at Lyneham

 

Essential experience of the Trainer - Mechanical and Trades:

  • Multi skilled mechanical engineering background with a high level of craft and technical skills
  • Previous experience of Bench Fitting, Milling,Turning and use of hand tools; not overly reliant on modern production technology CNC etc.
  • Use of analogue measuring equipment is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to motivate and encourage others with empathy and patience

 

Previous training experience is ideal, however, if you can bring your technical skills, we will support your development and Teacher Training  Level 4 teaching certification, once in post.

 

Qualifications for the Trainer - Mechanical and Trades;

  • Minimum CGLI City & Guilds part 3 or above, NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical Engineering ideally)

 

You must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role, but you can start on basic BPSS clearance.
