Defence Equipment
The Vehicle Mechanic is based within our Defence Equipment business area.

Defence equipment stores, maintains, repairs and overhauls military vehicles and equipment so the UK army is able to train and deploy in a moment. As well as supporting vehicles that are already in service, the team carries out vehicle assembly integration and tests new vehicles.


The role

The difference our new Vehicle Mechanic will make, As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will carry out the inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of vehicles,


Day to day, you’ll carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and technical publications. Furthermore, you will diagnose, inspect and assess vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical equipment in line skills & competency. You will also ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department / section Supervisor.


The creation of job cards and demanding material where the relevant ERP (SAP) training has been completed and the completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates / reports to current standards. Lastly ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose and un-used or new faulty material is returned to the section / department Team Leader as soon as it is identified.

Essential experience
•    NVQ Level 3 Service and Repair 
•    Ideal candidate from HGV, Garage backgrounds 
•    Previous experience within similar role 
•    Hydraulics experience


SC security clearance required.
