To continue the high standards of training the team provide we are recruiting for a Senior Trainer to join the team. The successful candidate will line manage trainers to maintain and develop the excellent training provision to the London Fire Brigade.

 

We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience within the emergency services environment with -

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of training processes and techniques, including needs analysis, planning, design, delivery and evaluation.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge in one of the fire service specialist training subjects (with national accreditation where appropriate) e.g. Road Traffic Accident, Breathing Apparatus, Incident Management, Technical Rescue, Immediate Emergency Care, Line Operations, FFD.
  • Proven experience and able to deliver training to both small and large groups.
  • Extensive experience of managing students (including student welfare) on residential and non-residential courses
  • Extensive experience of assessing competence of individuals, recording results, providing feedback and writing action plans.
  • Proven experience of successfully coaching and mentoring individuals to achieve required performance standards.
  • Thorough technical knowledge and extensive practical experience of using a wide range of computer based training equipment and associated training delivery and administrative software.

Key Accountabilities:

  • A minimum of 50% of your annual hours will be  spent providing training to small and large groups of learners
  • Line Manager for small team of trainers and ensuring their competence to deliver training by complying with the Fit to Train policy including auditing of qualifications and carrying out peer assessments of delivery standards.
  • Setting high standards and acting as coach and mentor to trainers and developing, recording and monitoring their personal development plans. Providing feedback on trainer’s performance.
  • Ensuring that training is delivered in a safe and professional manner in accordance with the course materials and risk assessments.
  • Dealing with any trainer welfare issues in accordance with company policy.
  • Assessing learner and trainer performance, recording results and providing feedback and action plans.
  • Providing and evaluating quality assurance feedback relating to courses, trainers and delegates to identify corrective actions necessary.
  • Ensuring that any issues with the security or suitability of training resources are reported to senior management.
  • Completing course administration and other reports, including: learner attendance and non-attendance, assessment of performance, action plans, evaluation records, course summaries and similar.
  • Providing advice and support as SME to design team and leading miscellaneous projects as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Attained the appropriate technical qualification
  • Attained, working towards or committed to attaining a recognised teaching or training qualification e.g. Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
  • Attained, working towards or committed to attaining a recognised assessor qualification e.g. A1 NVQ Award in Level 3 Assessing Learners.
