Head of Communications Land Sector
Location: Leicester
Permanent, Full Time – 37hrs per week
Salary: Competitive Salary + Car Allowance + Bonus up to 20%


About the role

Here at Babcock we are looking to recruit a Head of Communications for our Land Sector to define and execute an internal and external communications strategy ensuring that these deliver a consistent brand message to employees, customers and stakeholders.

What do I need to do the role?

You’ll need to hold extensive experience within a similar role, ideally within a large organisation, have experienced communications professional with proven skills in several of the following disciplines (in order of priority): employee communications, copywriting, managing integrated communications campaigns, PR, website/SharePoint management, and event management.


Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience of managing people and budgets  
  • Project management skills to ensure communications plans are delivered effectively
  • Bi-monthly internal newsletter
  • Bi weekly memos
  • Quarterly comms link with Group (people within the sector, case profiling), annual conferences (celebrating success and leadership management)
  • Develop and deliver an external communications strategy to promote the sector’s capabilities to external stakeholders
  • Support the Chief Executive and Board Members with communications advice and materials
  • Represent the sector in all communications related activities undertaken at a Group level (for example co-ordinating the sector’s annual report content submission) and provide functional advice and guidance to Communications professionals embedded within the sector’s business units
  • Lead on communications planning
  • Own and develop the sector intranet and the Land sector content on the external website
  • Act as the principal point of contact for in-bound press enquiries for the sector


What else do I need to know?

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
