We're looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Engineer to fulfil the role of Senior Project Engineer (Strategic Systems) to meet our commitments to the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA).  Specifically this role will support planning and programming initiatives as defined by the Chief Strategic Systems Executive (CSSE) Office. Babcock Naval Nuclear - Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) team provides engineering management and technical support services to enable the delivery of the Company's key contracted outputs to the client (SDA), essentially to deliver available and capable ships and submarines for the Royal Navy. The Maritime Missions Systems team within the SSE contains both Strategic Weapon and Combat Systems Engineers who provide submarine engineering support services to the client, in addition to providing organic engineering support to the wider Babcock business across multiple sites.

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Engineer to deliver support to Babcock's contribution to the Submarine Strategic Weapons (SW) Enterprise. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will form part of a small team delivering engineering support to Submarine Nuclear deterrent operations through a customer focused, collaborative and integrated approach.


What will you be doing?
The aim of this role is to support CSSE programme and activity reviews, which will include (but not be limited to) data analysis, stakeholder engagement and management of risk. You will also be expected to identify and deliver engineering / programme definition in support of CSSE interests and key outputs. The role will support technically complex engineering and programming activities in the submarine domain including:

•    Inputting data and conducting analysis in MS Excel and Primavera P6 to provide In-Service advice.
•    Conduct of programme analysis across multiple areas.
•    producing technical solutions for delivery of products and services.
•    Contribute to process improvements within the concept, assessment, design and operational lifecycles of submarines and their supporting MOD programmes and projects.
•    Development or Involvement in strategic studies 
•    Input to MOD Working Groups and Boards as required.

The experience you’ll bring 
You'll need a minimum Level 6 qualification in an engineering / science discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience.

We would also like you to hold experience in the following:
•    Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards it) 
•    Understanding of Project Management tools and techniques
•    Working as part of a team
•    Working with the MoD / Industry Strategic Weapons Enterprise

The successful candidate will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance. As you will be working with US information supplied under the Polaris Sales Agreement (PSA) the post holder will have to be a sole UK national to meet US criteria.
