About the Role


We are looking for a Purchasing Officer to join our high performing Defence team on a 2 year fixed term contract. Based at Holsworthy Barracks, this role will support the Counter - Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (C-CBRNE) contract. The role will see you provide administrative and logistical support to Babcock client representatives to ensure timely performance and compliance with customer requirements. Responsibilities could include but not limited to:

 

  • Undertake purchasing activities against approved stores requests to suppliers utilising Defence ERP systems.
  • Accurately prepare all purchasing documentation and submit to the relevant delegate for approval.
  • Provide general administrative support inclusive of processing of accounts and establishing and maintaining registers as required.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures governing financial delegations and responsibilities relating to Defence procurement.
  • Ensure goods receipting is undertaken accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Support the on-time delivery of orders from suppliers, ensuring their performance is as per contractual requirements and benchmark standards.
     

About you


As an experienced Purchasing Officer, you will have a positive, can-do attitude and pride yourself on your ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will thrive in a complex environment and showcase your ability to deliver high technical and quality standards. With a passion and background in the Defence sector, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach to problem solving and possess the following:

 

  • Extensive experience in Supply Chain and/or Logistics environment.
  • Australian Citizen with NV1 clearance. 
  • Computer Literate and skilled in the use of MS Office Software and Defence purchasing systems (MILIS, ROMAN, Card Management System).
  • Knowledge of Defence Logistics processes.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills to achieve desired business outcomes.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate duties to meet required deadlines
