We currently have an opportunity for a Team Leader to join our Nuclear Operations Utilities team at Babcock.


The role holder will manage and motivate a team of Electrical Fitters and semi-skilled Operatives who carry out planned and reactive maintenance and repair activities on high voltage generation and distribution equipment and supporting infrastructure at HM Naval Base Clyde. In addition to maintaining HV infrastructure, the team is also responsible for maintenance critical LV distribution and ancillary equipment and the provision of communications systems to vessels.


Specific responsibilities will include managing day to day activities in accordance with schedule and KPI requirements and in line with relevant Health & Safety legislation Additionally, the role holder will be responsible for budgetary control and planning and resource management.


Please note that the successful candidate will be required to achieve HV Authorised Person status if not already held.


The anticipated salary for this role will be £32,000 per annum.




We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate management / supervisory experience gained in electrical maintenance environments, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of High Voltage electrical principles. Ideally, you would have a sound existing knowledge and understanding of 50Hz and 60Hz power generation / distribution equipment and ancillary systems. Key areas of competency we require are as follows:


  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • Highly developed man-management and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent multi-level communication skills
  • Basic IT competency

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.

The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
