In this role, you will:

  • Provide guidance and expertise for the advancement and support of the strategic and operational risk management practice throughout the organization and ensure alignment with organizational objectives
  • Direct quality, health, safety and environmental initiatives that accomplish continuous improvement and enhancement to the Business Management System in conjunction with various Babcock International Group for business units (Marine, Aviation and Nuclear).
  • Lead the application of Quality Assurance policies across Babcock Canada’s business units (e.g., Marine, Aviation and Nuclear). and identify initiatives to maintain and improve related standards.
  • Build relationships internally within, across functional teams, and the Executive team.
  • Provide safety leadership to all areas of the business including, but not limited to the Aviation, Marine and Nuclear departments.
  • Develop operational plans and road maps that align to the Babcock Canada’s strategic objectives and timelines.
  • Monitor and analyze risks at a strategic level and prepare reports for the Executive team.
  • Lead the audit program ensuring audits are completed and recorded, and findings are appropriately disseminated and actioned.
  • Provide support and direction on the development of processes to enable more efficient and high-quality delivery of Babcock operations.
  • Participate as a project team member to support the risk assessment of cross-functional projects and/or change initiatives, including participation in the Project Review Board.
  • Oversee and monitor all operational risk management resources and activities of the organization related to Quality, Environment and Health and Safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.


The ideal candidate brings:


  • Minimum of 10 years of senior level experience in Quality Assurance, Corporate Risk and Health and Safety.
  • Experience overseeing Quality Assurance operations and safety requirements within both the Aviation and Marine environments.
  • Experience conducting operational safety audits, accident investigations and processing / reviewing Hazard and Safety Occurrence Reports.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Knowledge of Fatigue Risk Management and Human Factors within Aviation
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic and/or operational plans
  • Hold a Quality Manager certification under IRCA, ASQ or equivalent, qualification or experience in Change Management, Business Analysis, Business Efficiency or Facilitation as an asset.
  • Degree in a relevant field as an asset.
  • Have experience in the management of projects; in ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, 31000 and CSA 299 and CSA 286 systems as an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including creating and delivering presentations, workshops and educational modules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, experience with SharePoint an asset.
  • Strong leadership, consulting, and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships and facilitate consensus.
  • Strong work ethic, proactive problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
