The role
As a Principal Project Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll manage the Project Engineering team to successfully deliver all projects, ensuring implementation of project works are to correct technical standards and work as part of project team to ensure safe and successful delivery. You’ll work with the client(s) on matters of safety, engineering and compliance, as well as supporting the Senior/Project Managers in delivering their portfolio commitments and identifying changes of scope and commercial issues.
Day to day, you’ll carry out role of Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) or Contractor’s Engineering Manager (CEM) in managing the Project Engineering team to successfully deliver all projects, some other key duties will include:
- Formulating delivery plans and budgets and in monitoring performance to ensure that the delivery targets and margins are fully achieved
- Ensure that project engineering staff plan and implement projects to meet or better tendered margins
- Ensure that changes to scope and specifications are managed and that risk registers and issues logs are robustly reviewed
- Critically review P6 project plans to ensure effective delivery and liaise with Construction and Testing to ensure early visibility of resource requirements
- Review resource plans and change project plans to ensure maximised resource utilisation
- Manage the engineering and technical change control process throughout the life of all projects
- Act as CEM / CRE and Project Engineer where required and competent to do so
Experience of the Principal Project Engineer:
- Professionally qualified in an appropriate discipline
- Successful record in Project Engineering
This is a full time and permanent position, 35 hours a week, with agile working from home (WFH) options vailable
Qualifications for the Principal Project Engineer:
- IRSE licence and PTS Qualification
- Chartered Engineer - desirable
The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
