Babcock Aviation has an excting opportinity for a Head of Business Development. The purpose of the role is to deliver on our growth ambitions in the UK Military Aviation market. To lead a team in generating and developing effective engagement campaigns and concrete opportunities that will create sustainable growth for Babcock. 

 

The role reports to the Managing Director, Military Aviation UK within Babcock’s UK Aviation business. This team is leading on all growth opportunities with our primary customers and interfaces with our cross-group multi-domain teams to deliver capability to the Military Air customer.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the Business Development team – Providing leadership and direction to a highly capable and experienced team in the analysis, capture and development of growth opportunities 
  • Develop client relationships – Build and maintain key customer relationships within RAF, Navy & Army and maintain extensive knowledge of current customer priorities and strategies
  • Development of Military Aviation Strategy – Leading the development of the Military Aviation Strategy that supports customer capability and delivery requirements and Babcock future growth aspirations, and ensuring alignment with wider Aviation Sector strategy.
  • Deliver Capture leadership across markets – Apply knowledge of customer emerging requirements to capture opportunities to shape Babcock’s offer and develop positioning strategies
     

The experience you’ll bring

  • Strong knowledge of the UK Defence industry, the political agenda and the customer base.
  • Relevant experience in a sales / business development role in the UK Defence market.  Knowledge of Aviation may be beneficial, but is not essential.
  • The ability to lead the BD team, and to further and support the development of its capability, performance and people through inclusive leadership 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to flex style to engage, motivate and influence people from all backgrounds and at all levels
