About the Role


Here at Babcock, we currently have an opportunity for an experienced thermal insulator to join our Engineering Support team within our Fleet Engineering department.


You will undertake thermal insulation activities and to provide multi skilled support to the Fleet Engineering team. Specific responsibilities will include cladding pipework, valves and industrial plant, and undertaking general labouring activities on board submarines and surface ships based at HMNB Clyde.


The anticipated salary for this role will be £21,520 per annum, subject to experience and successfully completing a 6 month probation period there is potential for the salary to increase.


What do I need to do the role?


You will hold TICA skills blue card to SVQ/NVQ level 2 as a minimum.


You will be able to demonstrate previous lagging and manual handling experience and knowledge of the equipment / materials used in support of such activities.


Key areas of competency we require are as follows:


  • Experience of utilising Work to Risk, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Experience of confined space working and in controlled areas.
  • Excellent team working and interpersonal skills.


What else do I need to know?


This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
