Project Engineer (Sub Contract Control)

About the role
We currently have an opportunity to join our Fleet Programmes team at Babcock as a Project Engineer (Sub Contract Control).
The main purpose of this role will be to determine the scope of the subcontract resource or services required to deliver work packages in accordance with Submarine Programme support periods undertaken at HM Naval Base Clyde.
Specific areas of responsibility will include the identification of subcontract resource, services & project support equipment requirements from initial bid through to project / contract close out, the production of technical statements of requirement, the evaluation of subcontractor queries and tender responses and to act as a Project Technical subcontract representative at various bid meetings and review forums. Additionally, the role holder will support the Subcontract Manager in vetting and analysing technical queries, data collation, and ensuring compliance with procurement processes.

What do I need to do the role?
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate previous experience of working on maintenance projects within multi-disciplinary engineering environments which were supported by subcontracted resources. Knowledge of marine or nuclear engineering activities, ship systems, weapons systems, warship construction, test forms and technical procedures would all be advantageous. Key areas of competency we require will include:
• HNC level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
• Knowledge and experience of project control toolsets and methodologies.
• Knowledge and experience of planning and project management principles and practices.
• Ability to produce clear, concise and well-structured reporting and technical documentation.
• Competent user of business applications including Primavera 106P and 106R.


What else do I need to know?
This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, but it is recommended for employees to travel by car due to the location.
