Health & Safety Practitioner

Clyde – Coulport

Salary £31,000-£36,000


About the role


Here at Babcock, we currently have an opportunity for a Health & Safety Practitioner to work closely with staff at all levels, providing specialist advice and coaching to assist them in discharging their Health & Safety duty of care.


Day to day duties will include reviewing risk assessments, carrying out audits, preparing and delivering training packages and conducting accident investigations.


Additional responsibilities will include producing policy and process documentation, ensuring that it is up to date and compliant with relevant legislation.


What do I need to do the role?


You will have previous experience of working in an Occupational Health & Safety role and achieved training in Occupational Health and Safety, typically to NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent level with a Chartered membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.


You will also be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant legal and statutory frameworks, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all delegated and quasi legislation.


Previous experience gained in a construction environment is desirable, as is a knowledge of Construction Design and Management regulations, audit experience and an environmental qualification such as IEMA would all be an advantage.


You will have an organised approach to the management of time and priorities as well as strong multi-level communication skills.


What else do I need to know?


The post is based at RNAD Coulport located 8 miles from Faslane and 13 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.


This role may be considered for flexible working.
