Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Laboratory Assistant to provide multi skilled support within our Chemistry Department at HMNB Clyde.
You will assist the Health Physics Chemist
to provide an efficient service to the customer.


This is a varied role, which will involve a range of tasks from handling swabs and samples, the preparation and issue of test kits to the support and production of reports.


What do I need to do the role?


Ideally you will have previous experience as a lab assistant or a chemistry background. However we will also consider applications from individuals who are keen to learn, get involved in this area and develop. Potentially you may have studied or have an interest in Chemistry and looking for an entry level position within a laboratory setting.


You will demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to learning new skills and a willingness to work on own initiative with minimum direct supervision within an environment which will involve both hands-on and analytical tasks.

Key areas of competency we require will include:

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software, in particular MS Excel and MS Word
  • Attention to detail in all tasks undertaken
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive, proactive approach to all tasks undertaken
  • Confident interacting with people at all levels with minimal direction
  • An understanding of Risk Assessments, COSHH and Safe Systems of Work
    Lastly we require an element of flexibility for this role as it may require occasional evening or weekend working.

    What do I need to do the role?
    You should hold or have the ability to obtain full SC clearance
