About the Role


We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to join our commissioning group combat systems team. You will conduct Submarine Commissioning and Testing tasks safely, on time, to specification and within an agreed budget.  Ensure close liaison with all key stake holders throughout.


You will be responsible for the inspection, testing, calibration and commissioning of submarine systems and equipment. Specific areas of responsibility will include researching specifications, compiling test documentation and conducting fault diagnosis and system commissioning.


What do I need to do the role?


We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate significant experience of working with communication and combat systems within a submarine operation, maintenance or commissioning environment. Key areas of competency we require are as follows:


  •  Recognised Electrical/Electronic Engineering apprenticeship, qualified to SVQ level 3 as a minimum.
  • HNC Electrical / Electronics or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Electrical Combat Systems engineering systems and equipment
  • Competent user of IT systems including ERP, database and MS office software. 
  • Strong focus on the application of Health & Safety principles to all work undertaken.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload within a highly pressured environment.
  • Effective relationship building and interpersonal skills.

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
