About the role

Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a MCTS Building Support Assistant.

The Maritime Composite Training System (MCTS) is a sophisticated and versatile training platform used by the Royal Navy (RN) providing state of the art classroom and simulation training facilities delivering maritime training in controlled environments.

The MCTS Specialist Building Support Assistant (BSA) plays a fundamental role in the delivery of the subcontracted Babcock training support to the Royal Navy (RN) End User on behalf of our Customer, BAE Systems.

MCTS Building Support Assistants deliver flexible, direct and indirect multi-skilled support to Royal Navy maritime warfare career courses supporting training activities through the effective preparation and realistic operation of the MCTS in high-fidelity simulator and classroom settings.

This role is a Part-Time 18.5 Hours/Week position.

Your main task will include Contributing to the efficient and cost effective provision of a high fidelity maritime warfare training service in all Hard (low technical) & Soft (cleaning and building maintenance) FM related tasks as directed by the SPE. Delivering high standard of cleanliness throughout the Building to meet KPI requirements. Providing (when trained/qualified) - out of hours Call Out support as directed by SPE. First responders to make safe only. Undertaking- Portable Appliance Testing, Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting Testing Duties if/when suitably qualified. Undertaking (relevant to competency and internal training) - , low risk / low level minor Mechanical/Electrical maintenance and minor building infrastructure and fabric maintenance/repair tasks. Escorting and assisting in the facilitation of work undertaken by external specialist visiting contractors who must be escorted at all times when on-site. Assuring- compliance with and to all statutory legislation and working best practices.  Monitor and respond to and remain constantly aware of Health & Safety matters that may emerge within the facility as required by task scope and current legislation. Providing- an adverse weather response service. (Gritting, snow, ice clearance etc). Assisting- in the observation of physical security of the building, to assist in the event of a full evacuation of the building. Act as fire and/or security warden during evacuations. Assisting– in the collation of data collection for PPM/Reactive jobs on the TABS FM CAFM system. (computer skills will be required).

What do I need to do the role?

You’ll need to be competent in all aspects of General cleaning/Soft FM services.

Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • General Porterage and Manual Handling safety awareness
  • Working Knowledge of Basic Building Services & Maintenance activities
  • Have at least a basic knowledge of computers and be capable of data entry.

What else do I need to know?

  • All MCTS staff must be UK Nationals and require SC Clearance
  • This role is a Part-Time 18.5 Hours/Week position
