About the role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Control Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer to join our Liquefied Gas Equipment (LGE) Division. We design and supply cargo handling systems for liquefied gas ships across the globe. LGE is an incredibly innovative and diverse business with patented designs working with LPG, LNG, Ethane, Ethylene and new projects with CO2.
Our Head Office is in Rosyth, with most projects mainly in South Korea and China at the biggest shipyards in the world. With a diverse product portfolio in numerous markets, we offer an exciting opportunity to join an ever-growing business with longevity. You will be part of an experienced and supportive team of Engineers and you will collaborate with numerous engineering departments.
You will perform/preparing Calculations, Data Sheets, Specifications, Schedules and Drawings as required and coordinating with other business departments to achieve the required project objectives and deliverables schedules. Including, but not restricted to the following:

o Motors, pressure/temperature/level/flow etc instrumentation, gauge boards, junction boxes, control panels, starter panels, rotating machinery packages, cables/glands.
o Schedules - Instrument, cable, power/utilities,
o Drawings - Instrument and control panels, power/control/instrumentation schematics and wiring diagrams, hazardous/safe area plans.
o Control system architecture, communication links with third party equipment.
o Development of PLC & HMI software for cargo control systems.
o Integration of the cargo control system with marine communication systems.
o Efficient and effective reviewing and checking of drawings, documents, schedules etc.
o Evaluation of quotations and liaising with other disciplines, suppliers and third parties to ensure equipment and system technical correctness, optimum commercial benefit and integrity.
o Engagement with regulatory bodies to ensure design compliance with recognised standards.
o Efficient and timely review and clarification of Vendor drawings/documentation, project documentation and standards.
o Visits to Clients, sites, suppliers and other locations as required including commissioning/testing activities, Factory Acceptance Tests, vendor/client technical discussions.

What do I need to do the role?
You’ll need to have a degree in Electrical Engineering and CI&E experience in either a project engineering or design engineering role.

We would also like you to have the following:
• Ability to work to deadlines whilst being reactive to customer/client requests for change.
• Design engineering experience in the layout of E&I control panels.
• Proven track record on PLC & HMI programming.
• Familiar with Siemens/Allen Bradley/GE IP (or equivalents) PLC hardware and software packages.
