General Description of Job:-

This is a permanent post.

The post holder will be required to report to Material Supply Manager

As Business Change Manager you will be required to deliver Business Change initiatives using a change management and programme delivery toolkit. You will lead and deliver the initiatives on time and in full to budget against an agreed plan. You will manage teams against deadlines to assure deliverables are met. The ability to work with a cross- functional team to identify opportunities, and drive them through to conclusion is key, whilst managing the programme budget. You will be responsible for ensuring key processes are consistent across the department.

Use of change management techniques to ensure stakeholder engagement, communications and embedding of solutions.


Main Tasks:-

  • Ensure all H&S standards and policies are adhered to in accordance with the Babcock Values, Standards and ways of working ‘Home Safe Every Day’.
  • Work with the management team to identify opportunities for change and help drive them through to completion
  • Ensure process consistency for key departmental processes to ensure staff in both teams work in a consistent manner including measuring their output in a standard way
  • Use change management, process management and programme management toolkits to identify, scope, value and deliver lasting organisational change
  • Manage effective communications across a number of initiatives
  • Develop and deliver
  • Support and deliver Project Improve workstreams
  • Provide progress reports and deliver updates both verbal and written to management team.
  • Develop and report against agreed performance indicators. 
  • Provide advice on the management of effective and efficient processes.
  • Ensure Babcock quality standards are met.
  • Monitor programme delivery with external providers / other departments to ensure I&RM business abjectves are met
  • Support the management team  with a Benefits Realisation Strategy and benefits tracking processes to be applied to the programmes.
  • Manage reporting at all levels of the programmes, and devlo reporting for the Change Board
  • Deliver internal training to ensure the organisation develop the skills to manage change


Technical Experience and Qualifications:-


  • A degree, relevant professional qualification (NVQ 4, HND, Graduate Diploma,BTEC, PG Dip) or relevant experience in a senior capacity in a complex organisation
  • Clear and demonstrable understanding of organisational change, and benefits delivery
  • Excellent organisational skills and expertise in managing teams, budets and deadlines
  • An ability to develop and sustain relationships with individuals at all levels in an organisation (both internal and external), including the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience of developing business cases, project reports, and giving presentations.
  • Leadership and collaborative working skills, and facilitation and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Defence structures, processes and procedures


Skills Profile/ Other requirements:-

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and manage resources, in both a line and networked environment
  • An ability to prioritise/ organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to, and to successfully deliver under pressure, whilst displaying ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Experience of operational delivery in a complex, time critical environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven management record across the supply chain.
  • Able to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.
  • An understanding of the challenges of MoD commercial and cultural working methods.
  • Ability to relate to both client and customer needs at all levels with respect to operational delivery requirements.
  • Industry experience
  • Willingness to travel in the UK.
