The role
As a Lead Business Improvement Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll form a key role within an energetic and diverse team working to challenging timescales to deliver transformation projects/programmes in different functions and sectors across defence in the UK.
Day-to-day, you’ll have a business change and transformation focus with overall responsibility for determining the benefits to the project/programme, assessing progress towards project/programme outcomes.
- Ensuring the organisation has identified required change/transformation opportunities and planned for successful implementation and sustainment.
- Development and application of an appropriate benefits realisation strategy and plan, ongoing governance and associated reporting/communications, making sure the benefits are owned and achievable.
- Working with business areas to prepare the transition to new ways of working, leading the transition and ensuring that changes are integrated.
- Interacting with a range of stakeholders in the business and customer organisation across multiple MOD departments, to ensure that the project/programme achieves its goals, and the benefits are delivered, owned, realised, and sustained.
- Responsible for drawing upon specialised depth and breadth of expertise to undertake complex assignments and provide technical leadership and direction to junior roles.
This role is full time, 35, hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Lead Business Improvement Specialist
- Effective communication and engagement skills to sell and communicate the project/programme vision to all stakeholders.
- Knowledge of business change techniques such as business process modelling and gap analysis; benefits mapping, benefit profile creation and organisational change models such as Kotter’s, Lewin’s, 7-S Model, nudge theory etc.
- Highly skilled in programme management (preferable MSP) and the delivery of significant business change.
- Experience of defining and leading complex change programmes and possess strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate.
- Ability to pull together complex information and present it in a coherent manner and at the appropriate level for the audience. Refining and summarising information for senior management. Good presentation skills, ability to influence and articulate arguments.
Qualifications for the Lead Business Improvement Specialist
- Ideally a Bachelor's degree in either Engineering/Project/Business and Leadership or relevant experience
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
- APMG or PROSCI Change Management Certification
- Project Risk Management Course - Desirable
