The Role
As a Head of Finance, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be accountable for all Major Nuclear Capital Programmes (MNCP) financial reporting in the Sector including cash flow / working capital requirements, month-end and 5YP / budget outputs, and ad hoc analyses; whilst also, being the point of contact for teams across MNCP and Babcock finance, so that all outputs are delivered to time and to the highest standard - ensuring the service delivered exceeds expectations. The role will be responsible for:

 

  • Producing the MNCP operational Business Review packs and governance reviews.
  • Promoting and driving collaboration whilst maintaining control across the MNCP finance team - to contribute to improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of reporting processes.
  • Working with the MNCP leadership team to support delivery of the 5YP through early insight and analysis and transparent forward looking financial outputs for the sector.  Ensuring key dependencies are tracked and escalated to underpin the latest forecast.
  • Managing the MNCP audit agenda ensuring adherence to timetables and reporting requirements.
  • Challenging existing reporting requirements and practice across MNCP to support continuous improvement; as well as escalating any emergent financial issues at the earliest point.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires travel to our Devonport site, in Plymouth, on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.

 

Essential Experience of the Head of Finance: 

  • Working in a senior finance role - both within business units / operations and group/head office functions.
  • Financial reporting and technical accounting experience including adequate technical knowledge and experience of relevant financial reporting standards.
  • Experience of managing cash flow and improving working capital.
  • Ability to manage large and, diversely spread teams.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting, reporting and legal standards.

 

Qualifications for the Head of Finance: 

  • You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
