Level 2 Development Coach
England – South region
About the role

Purpose of role:   In this role you will, through a structured review process, provide progression, safeguarding & welfare support and EPA preparation to apprentices and line managers whilst engaging them in ED&I, H&S, Safeguarding and British Values


Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:
• Act as a point of contact for the apprentices, customer and employees, providing appropriate levels of support as required.
• Mentoring, coaching and supporting individuals to facilitate personal, social and educational growth as well as encouraging greater understanding of the apprenticeship and Gateway process
• Support the delivery of wider apprentice review provision and their transition from training environment to workplace


Additional Key Accountabilities:
• Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures relating to Babcock and Network Rail
• Create a culture of high performance within the apprentice population, driving performance through setting of SMART targets which links across all areas of the apprentice curriculum 
• Provide effective coaching and mentoring to apprentices based around enhancing  effective intelligence, communication, courage, time management  and core values and other needs as required by the individual or their employer
• Advocate an appropriate style of leadership when dealing with individuals in order to deliver organisation objectives
• Fosters an organisational culture that is positive about change and committed to delivery of business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with Babcock Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Safeguarding and Welfare policy


Key Outputs / Deliverables:
• Achievement of customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Provide coaching and support to apprentices and colleagues
• Timely and effective communication
• Completion of scheduled reviews and gateway activities in the workplace with apprentices, ensuring accurate information is recorded
• Undertake administrative tasks, maintaining effective recording systems and responding to queries

• Westwood, York, Basingstoke and wider based customer staff
• Apprentices
• Customer training teams

• Line Manager
• The Functional Management Team
• Customer Support Officers
• Staff and colleagues across wider Babcock business teams

What do I need to do the role?


Key Technical Skills / Competencies:
• Competent coach with demonstrable experience of delivering  in one-to-one and small groups situations/workshops with measurable outcomes and setting of SMART targets
• Effective delivery and guidance in building portfolios in readiness for EPA
• Ability to work towards and achieving KPI’s
• Demonstrable experience of providing effective customer service in a similar environment


Key Behavioural Competencies:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish good relationships with diverse groups of people
• Passionate about working with people and the provision of excellent customer service
• Self-motivation with ability to work under pressure, maintain professionalism and to influence others
• Innovative, flexible approach to work, work pattern and must be prepared to travel
• An understanding of learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and wider autistic spectrum


Key Analytical Skills and Challenges / Competencies:
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Effective Planning & Organisational skills


Company / Industry Knowledge:
• An understanding of apprenticeships
• Experience of coaching/mentoring/teaching young individuals
• Awareness of relevant Government initiatives relating to Safeguarding and Ofsted
• An understanding of supporting personal development and portfolio building


• Hold or willing to work towards an assessor qualification
• Literacy and Numeracy qualifications to L2 or equivalent experience
• L2/L3 Leadership & Management qualification (Desirable)
