Purpose of role

 

Carrying out routine and bespoke inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis mechanical/electrical repair to a wide range of advanced military wheeled vehicles to Level 1 & 2 Maintenance Standards. All repairs are to be compliant with VOSA/DofT inspection standards, all activities are to be carried out in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation, Babcock policy, Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP’s) and manufacturers’ handbooks. The role includes travel around the UK for up to 2 weeks at a time. 

 

Main Duties 


•    Ability and willingness to work away from home location, in all weathers throughout the year.
•    Capable of in-depth engineering work and diagnostics on large, and small vehicles.
•    Able to adapt to a wide variety of unusual vehicle platforms using modern repair techniques and skills.
•    Adept at reading and utilising repair manuals, spares lists and modern diagnostic schematics through modern media assets as required.
•    Proficient at problem solving using technical knowledge and experience to obtain positive outcomes.
•    Expected to work efficiently to achieve targets and specific deadlines set by Line Manager to achieve positive results.
•    Must be able to operate within a small remote team to achieve positive results.
•    Resourceful and flexible able to adapt to changing priorities as necessary over entire range of supported equipment.
•    Competent level of IT skills enabling proficient use of computer-based vehicle management, diagnostic and spares requisition systems.
•    Prepared for outdoor work all year round, flexibility in working across all vehicle platforms to assist team ethos.
•    Positively embrace and support Line manager requests that utilise your skill set/capability to achieve results.
•    Any special to role training required would be provided this may require study/revision and practical assessments that you will be expected to successfully complete and pass.
•    Van, Tools, Personal Protective Equipment, corporate clothing and specialist stores support is provided.
•    Enthusiastic, reliable and driven individual striving to deliver their best with the ability to support and encourage colleagues to achieve the same high standards.
•    Expected to engage and actively participate in the company Personal Development Report (PDR) and Mid-Year Review (MYR) process.
 
What do I need to do the role? 


Essential
•    A recognised qualification in Automotive Engineering with a minimum C&G level 3 or BTEC/IMI/NVQ equivalent or has served in HM Armed Forces as a Vehicle Mechanic Class One.
•    Experienced IT skills competent at utilising laptops and diagnostic computers with a good understanding of MS Word and Excel.  
•    B1 Driving Licence  

 

Desirable
•    C or C+E Driving Licence.
•    Holds relevant MoD spec equipment training course qualifications.
•    Holds a valid FMT600.
