HGV Mechanic

About the role
 

Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a qualified HGV Mechanic/Technician to work on our Fire Brigade Contract. We manage complex fleets of specialist vehicles and equipment to emergency services customers including the London Fire Brigade, the Metropolitan Police Service. Our comprehensive offering includes the management, maintenance, short-term rental, repair, breakdown & recovery, and protection of assets. 

 

You will service and repair motor vehicles (HGVs) and Specialist Fire Service Equipment in a safe and efficient manner using such skills and knowledge as required. This role will be based from the Bardon workshop and will involve travelling to Fire & Rescue services across Leicestershire to undertake field repairs.

 

You will carry out day-to-day servicing and maintenance repair requirements on vehicles, modules, and equipment. You will test and diagnose faults using recognised test procedures and techniques, including road testing where deemed necessary. You will ensure that you can keep up to date records of work progress and liaise with managed service centre.

 

What do I need to do the role?
 

You’ll need to have servicing and repair to MOT standard experience as a HGV Mechanic/Technician and you’ll need to hold a Level 3 NVQ Engineering or equivalent qualification.

 

You’ll also need to have a CAT C License.

 

What else do I need to know?

 

  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week + on call one in every four weekends
  • Salary of £36,924.80 per annum + £80 per day on call allowance + 1.5x overtime.
  • Based at the Bardon workshop 70% and travel across Leicestershire 30% of the time.
