About the role

 

•    The delivery of maintenance training course modules within the Weapons department of the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) which is required for trainees in support of the Defence College of Technical Training Electro-Mechanical Training contract (DCTT EMTC).
•    Assist with the technical administration of training and equipment.


Main Tasks:

•    To prepare and deliver course modules within the trade training dept, Reviewing course material and content to ensure it is up to date and develop and maintain to support equipment and technology advances.
•    To prepare relevant training material, including lesson plans, training aids and student course material involving where necessary input from the Media and Graphics Dept.
•    Develop and maintain a Continuous Personal Development (CPD) portfolio, ensuring lesson plans and training sessions are up to date with the latest technologies and Equipment.
•    Carryout assessment of trainees including creation of written examinations, progress test papers, practical assessments and exam scenarios as well as continuous assessments. Marking of exam papers, setting and invigilation of exams and assessments.
•    Ensure student development through monitoring, feedback, discipline and training interventions.
•    Identify student Development needs and collaborate with the learning support team.
•    Carry out Administration including course reports, student training records, and ensure all supporting documents are maintained.
•    Responsibility within the Trade Training areas for cleanliness, security, Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and environmental and engineering hygiene, ensuring that all students are fully aware of these requirements.
•    Supervision of Trainees and visitors to ensure full compliance with relevant health, safety and environment (H&SE) & personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements as required by Babcock, the Authority and as relevant to the equipment training department, ensuring risks are adequately assessed and minimised. Ensure that the correct equipment is used for each task.
•    To ensure that Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) Standing Orders, and Babcock Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, are understood and implemented in the course of carrying out any work tasks.
•    Participation in presentations to agencies and visitors.
•    Carry out any other tasks as directed by your Lead Trainer.

 

What do I need to do the role?

Technical Experience and Qualifications


Essential:

•    Minimum CGLI City & Guilds Part 3, NVQ L3, Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (Machine tools, Precision Engineering, Gunsmith ) technical discipline Or Equivalent military qualifications, gained as Class1 REME Armourer, or similar RN/RAF trade.
•    Supervisory experience

•    Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant working environment

•     Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook packages (Computer literate)

 

Desirable:

•    Experience on larger Weapons platforms Light Gun, CR2, AS90
•    BSC Level 1 Working Safely

•    Either BSC Level 2 Supervising Staff Safely OR IOSH Managing Safely  
•    Completed the full DTTT suite of modules with CoT or CTLLS or equivalent teaching qualification.
•    Knowledge of military environment and equipment

•    Knowledge of the REME trade Structure and operational requirements. Especially relevant to the Small Arms Department

•    Ability to maintain credibility with customers at all levels including students and external  bodies
•    Champions and supports all H&SE initiatives and procedures and cascades this Babcock ethos effectively to staff and students.
•    Clear and relevant Technical Experience.
•    Demonstrable CPD towards keeping abreast of changes in technology, and technology based teaching. 
•    Focuses on the delivery of results.
•    Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
•    Able to coach and mentor students to achieve their best
