The Surface and Air Effectors Strategic Portfolio Leader role is based within our Mission Systems business area

As a Surface and Air Effectors Strategic Portfolio Leader, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The purpose of the role is to deliver and grow the Surface and Air Effectors Strategic Portfolio area of the Mission Systems value stream.

Day to day, you’ll ensure the profitable delivery of contracts and nurture relationships with customers and stakeholders and partners to grow the Line of Business. You’ll develop and deliver the ‘strategy into action plan’ for the Strategic Portfolio in line with the agreed Mission Systems value stream strategy. 

Your duties will include co-creating and delivering on ambitious engagement plans, which put people at the heart of what we do. Also identifying and prosecuting new opportunities in accordance with the strategy to grow the Strategic Portfolio in line with financial targets, developing compelling business cases to secure any required funding and investment.

Essential experience

• We are looking for someone who is a leader first. Someone with good technical competence but the ability to lead and develop a high performing team and build relationships that will grow the pipeline of work and delight our customers.  
• Significant relevant experience and subject matter expertise within a large, complex, global organisation.
• Experience of successfully delivering and growing businesses and managing senior customer stakeholders. 
• The ability to lead diverse functional teams, demonstrating strong operational and line management capability and the ability to motivate and develop high performing teams.
• The ability to develop talent and appropriate succession plans to meet our future requirements across Babcock (not just within the Mission Systems Sector).
