Babcock – Assistant Commercial Manager


About the role


Working as part of our Defence Systems Technology (DST) business, we are looking for an Assistant Commercial Manager to join us. DST forms a critical part of Babcock’s Marine organisation. Working across a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, our 1,500 strong team operate from a number of sites across the UK and internationally ensuring our global customer portfolio is always supported.

Within this role you will act as the Commercial focal point to the business stream reporting on Commercial activity, Commercial risk mitigation strategies and any emergent Commercial issues that may affect contract performance

What do I need to be able to do the role?


General knowledge of commercial terms and agreements, significant awareness of contracting methods and  strategies, proven negotiator, significant leadership skills supported by high level of resilience.

We would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:


  • Knowledge of a variety of contracting methods which maximises and mitigates commercial risk
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Experience of contract and bid management


What else do I need to know?
