You should be an enthusiastic team player with the ability to work across multiple complex projects.  The ability to develop long term strategic partnerships / relationships with customers and suppliers is key.  Due to the nature of work there will be a requirement to move between high level strategic objectives to the detail around operating and financial models for specific opportunities.

 

  • Acting as a focal point of contact for customers and key stakeholders (internal and external) regarding contractual matters by establishing and managing good customer relationships and communications.
  • Providing support and guidance to the business regarding pricing, terms and conditions and contractual obligations as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Providing a key proactive and collaborative service to support the contract delivery teams.
  • Challenging and supporting contract management teams with respect to project controls, variations, risk management and progress.
  • Implementing commercial strategy for proposals/tenders that maximise the commercial position whilst delivering tenders in accordance with competition rules and company processes and policies.
  • Ensuring commercial policies, processes, procedures and regulatory requirements are followed, consistently across the business and continuously reviewed to identify and implement improvements.
  • Supporting and leading commercial discussions and negotiations with customers; prepare and review the response to new contracts, negotiation plans and amendments to existing contracts and arrange for their approval.
  • Preparing/reviewing/approving in line with company delegations proposed contractual agreements (NDAs, TAAs, Teaming Agreements, Contracts etc).
  • Identifying and implementing complex sub-contract arrangements that mitigate commercial risk through the application of appropriate flow down of terms and conditions or bespoke contracting methods.
  • Maintaining contractual records, documentation of key correspondence, status and reports.
  • Managing and reviewing all commercial compliance requirements are undertaken and reviewed on a regular basis.

 
Experience

  • Working in a complex commercial environment, with experience of working within large, complex projects / programmes.
  • A balance of public and commercial sector experience in a customer-facing and supplier-facing role.
  • Knowledge of trade controls including ITAR and UK import and export regulations.
  • Full project / programme life-cycle.

  • Adept at solving difficult questions simply and swiftly.
  • Depth and breadth of understanding the key public and commercial contracting mechanisms.
  • Able to demonstrate a grasp of the detail while mindful of the strategic factors.
     

Education and qualifications

  • Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law or similar.

  • This role is based at our Bristol Technology Centre.  Bristol is a vibrant city in south west England with a wide range of attractions, landmarks, events and shopping.  It has excellent transport links and is only 1.5 hours from London by train. This role is based in North Bristol at Bristol Business Park.  
  • Travel: UK and potential to travel abroad as required
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
