Engineering Delivery Manager

Babcock Defence Systems Technology (DST) is growing and we need you to support us in rapidly delivering our next product development. We are looking for an energetic and driven individual who is brave and will challenge themselves and the team to deliver this project differently. We need you to join the team and support ‘pre-contract’ activities over the coming months including submission of the final cost and schedule to a key strategic customer. You will be responsible for forming the engineering delivery team and lead that team in delivering our next product using new ways of working. You will support our mission to make the world a safer place for us and our international allies.


The difference the Engineering Delivery Manager will make:
The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering significant parts of the final tender to a key strategic customer and establishing a high performing team to deliver the project scope to required cost, time and quality.
They will create and showcase new ways of delivering rapid product development with key suppliers to ensure early risk mitigation.
Excellent stakeholder management and being brave is key. The successful candidate will need to challenge the ‘current ways of working’ to ensure agile processes and policies are in place suited for rapid product development.


Who we are looking for
In this role, you will be a key leader within the project and responsible for delivering your work packages to time, cost and quality constraints. Key activities of the role include:
Establish robust project controls using best practice to efficiently and effectively monitor and control progress against the project baseline.
Leading and directing the engineering team to achieve required progress efficiently to enable early risk mitigation. This includes developing detailed, robust and integrated schedules, accurate cost breakdown and budgeting as well as regular forecasting to drive our performance and priorities.
Deriving clear work package scope definitions, milestones, key events etc. using contractual documents to focus your team’s effort and enable delivery of contractual milestones.
Estimate new work packages and update the project baseline to accurately reflect contracted work once agreed with the customer.
Ensuring accurate and realistic monthly Estimates to Complete (ETCs) are maintained and reported.
Manage and robustly control changes to requirements, scope, schedule and cost throughout delivery.


Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in delivering complex projects to clients to strict time and cost constraints.


Education and qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
