About the Role
Babcock Naval Nuclear plays a key role in the support of Royal Navy nuclear submarines throughout their life-cycle and in ensuring that submarines are ready to conduct operations at sea.

The role will place you in a new team, situated within the Engineering Services Directorate, a centre of excellence for our professional engineering capability.  Engineering Services provides technical outputs and solutions to enable submarine availability and fit for purpose nuclear licenced infrastructure; supporting naval programmes while proactively improving our capabilities. 


You will potentially be engaged in the following type of roles

• Design changes for equipment
• Through Life Assessment of equipment (reliability, maintainability, safety)
• Defining maintenance requirements and defect rectification methodologies
• Optimising availability of platforms at sea
• Analysing data to provide insight to equipment performance


What do I need to do the role?
You will need to be personable, professional and driven with the ability to engage in a range of projects. Working with a high level of professional knowledge, the role is part of a multi-disciplinary team that will apply your skills in submarine design changes, analysis, feasibility studies, through-life management or project management across our support programme.


You will be experienced in some of the following areas:

• Carrying out or supporting technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment or resolution and for design of improvements.
• Production, review, and approval of calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports as assigned.
• Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements.


You will:

• Have membership of an accredited body such as IMechE, IMarEST or IET and working towards chartered status.
• Be qualifications of HNC level or above in an Engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems.


Desired, either:

• Experience supporting complex assets through life.
• Submarine or warship system knowledge.
• For some specialist roles, have technical experience operating in a submarine.

What else do I need to know?
