CNC Programmer




About the role


Here at Babcock we’re looking to recruit a CNC Programmer establishes technical requirements for manufacturing. Plans, creates verifies and revises Machine Control Data (MCD) geometry and documentation that directs the operations for a complete spectrum of numerically controlled equipment required to manufacture and inspect parts tools and assemblies for departmental work. Plans and guides the development and integration of new machining techniques and manufacturing methods processes software and equipment.


You will be responsible for creation of offline CNC programs for Heidenhein and Fanuc machine tools using Edge CA and NX. Additional responsibilities will include identifying tooling / work holding requirements, support shop floor and manufacturing engineers with machining, tooling and production engineering activities. Identify potential cost savings, delivery and quality improvements within machining and programming activities.


What do I need to do the role?


  • Experience in offline programming and production engineering.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of milling and turning machining techniques, speeds and feeds with hands on approach to solving shop floor issues.
  • Experience of Edge CAM and NX would be an advantage, as would knowledge of machine controls.


Lastly, you must have a time served apprenticeship.  C&G or BTEC.
