General Description of Job:-

This is a full time post. However, flexible working requests will be considered.

 

To work within a warehouse environment and undertake the receipt, store, maintain, issue & return functions of processing products delivered into the Supply Chain Organisation in support of Babcock DSG Operation.

 

Main Tasks:-

  • Ensure all H&S standards and policies are adhered to in accordance with the Babcock Values, Standards and ways of working ‘Home Safe Every Day’.

 

Receipt:

  • To action supplier deliveries within the warehouse facility. This task will involve checking incoming products against BaaN/WMS to ensure that delivery has a valid Purchase Order & all other details are correct for acceptance into Supply Chain facility.

 

Receipt Checking:

  • All new receipts to be checked against a non-technical inspection including quantity & damage, quality & labelling.
  • All discrepancies found are to be actioned in line with company processes for quarantine & rectification.

 

Receipt Put-Away:

  • Receipt delivery documentation must be stamped against put-away requirements awaiting action.
  • Items to be  put-away to stock in suitable warehouse location, taking into account product detail, including; size of item, quantity, weight, handling instructions, hazard and shelf-Life, calibration date.

 

Issue / Picking:

  • Issue picks to be completed from stock location taking into account customer requirements & work centre distribution point.
  • Picking requirements are correct quantity, condition & clear labelling.
  • All discrepancies passed to Manager/Team Leader/Supervisor for action.
  • All Issues to be completed within agreed objective of 24 Hrs.

     

MHE Operation:

  • Mechanical Handling Equipment (such as forklift trucks) are used to assist & support warehouse tasks.
  • All Warehouse Operatives must be able operate MHE in order to support business operations.
  • Daily inspections of MHE must be conducted before use.

 

BaaN/WMS:

  • To navigate & use I.T Systems including VITAL / OLIVER & BaaN. This supporting warehouse tasks & gaining correct information from transaction navigation to maintain stock management & spares supply.

     

House-Keeping:

  • Regular housekeeping to be undertaken as part of warehouse, receipt & issue tasks.
  • Clear desk policy must be followed.
  • All waste must be removed from the facility as soon as safely possible. 

     

Distribution:

  • Delivery of product to internal customers within agreed objective of 24hrs. This task will include continual delivery to distribution points over the working day & any other duties directed by Line Manager.

     

Material Returns:

  • Local Warehouse Operatives are to control and coordinate the return of all material from Workshops facilities back to the Supply Chain organisation or to the authority as appropriate. Activities are to be conducted in line with company processes and procedures.
  • Organise Despatch Transport DSDA or contractor transport.

 

Technical Experience and Qualifications:-

Essential:-

  • Previous warehouse experience.
  • Working knowledge of Warehousing Management Systems.
  • Forklift truck operator.
  • Computer literacy. Able to operate Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

Desirable:-

  • Understanding of military processes, procedures and culture.
  • Experience in an automotive, manufacturing or defence organisation.

  • Ability to relate to both client and customer needs at all levels with respect to operational delivery requirements.
