The role

As a Bid Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will work as part of the Land Future Business Team, supporting the Bid Programme Directors and Business Winning Managers in the quality application of the end-to-end Business Winning Methodology throughout the Sector. You will work within a very well respected and highly motivated team who are excited at the prospect at welcoming someone else into the team. Day to day, you’ll develop and manage the bid programme from bid inception to contract award, coordinating and facilitating activities throughout the capture and proposal phases as required as well as undertaking business winning activities, owning/assisting in the production of quality functional outputs, including bid strategies, competitive assessments, win strategies, and value propositions that differentiate Babcock’s offering/proposal from the competition.

 

Key Duties of the Bid Manager:

  • Support the assigned business winning lead on major opportunities (Bid Programme Directors or Business Winning Managers) in the application of the ‘end to end’ Business Winning Methodology
  • Where required, undertake the role of business winning lead on bids as appropriate, providing functional leadership to the specific bid team
  • Provide day to day management support and leadership to the bid team, including management of the bid programme budget, and project controls to ensure effective progress is maintained
  • Instil a culture of objective review, constructive challenge, and refinement at every stage to maximise the quality of business winning outputs and increase win rates
  • Ensure effective and objective opportunity qualification and application of the bid governance process


Experience of the Bid Manager:

  • Business winning professional with bid coordinator/management experience and experience in supporting/leading the application of recognised business winning methodologies on bids
  • Understanding and experience of capture phase activities, including producing quality capture outputs – Desirable
  • Project Management experience – Desirable 
  • Ability to motivate and lead multi-functional teams
  • Experience of business winning within service-based/highly regulated industries
  • Experience working on complex tenders 

 

The Bid Manager role is conducted of a 37.5 hour working week and is a hybrid, full time position within the company. 


The Bid Manager must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
