General Description of Job



Responsible to the Information Technology System Support (ITSS) Senior Technician, the ITSS AV Network Support Technician is primarily responsible for the management of all audio visual equipment employed within ITSS networks and systems, additional responsibilities include support to the provision of networked services.  The team is responsible for the continued operational delivery of IT networks in support of RAF training on campus and is a fundamental facilitator to training success.   As an integral part of the team, you will engage with multiple stakeholders across RAF Halton to provide technical assistance in support of this continued training delivery


Main Tasks


  • The inspection, maintenance and repair of standalone and networked audio visual (AV) equipment.
  • Installation and removal of AV equipment.
  • Delivery of technology support to facilitate a continual MOD training environment.
  • The day to day management of the resources within the area of responsibility.
  • Managing the asset register for AV equipment.
  • Providing regular briefs and advice to the ITSS Senior Technician on all relevant matters.
  • Assisting other ITSS Staff with their tasking’s when required.
  • Provide progress updates to ensure the authority task tracking tool is accurate.
  • Assistance in providing network support.
  • Assisting with network equipment and User Access Device mandated updates.
  • Networking implementation, operational support and incident response.
  • Other appropriate duties and responsibilities as may be delegated by senior management
  • Ensure Company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times. Direction


Technical Experience and Qualifications



  • Network engineering qualification (CCNA, N+ or equivalent)                                   
  • Understand 1st / 2nd  line support to IT networks and AV peripherals Experience with installing/replacing networked AV equipment
  • AV equipment support experience
  • Driving licence



  • ICDL/ECDL Licence Level 2 or above
  • Understanding of task management tools
  • Proficient or advanced level with ‘Outlook’, ‘Excel’  and ‘Office’ packages
  • Data base skills an advantage
