About the role

Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Site Operative to work at the Avonmouth Fire Brigade Training Facility. This site is a purpose built facility that provides fire training for Fire and Rescue services and enables existing and new firefighters to train with realistic scenarios.

Facilities include carbonaceous training units, an LP Gas training house and multi- purpose industrial building, where simulated smoke can add to the realism. There is also a road system for imitating road traffic collisions and a driver training area with LGV and skid car training courses.

As the Site Operative, you will set up the Scenarios to ensure that it is ready for Fire Fighter Training including moving and lifting cars whilst carrying this out safely before and after the training. You will be expected to carry out maintenance of equipment and ensure that sufficient supplies and repairs are upheld ready for future training courses and general maintenance of the site and facilities, including resolving defects.

The site is complex and interesting and will provide an enjoyable challenge for Operatives that would like to work in a new environment. As the systems are unique, all training will be provided to ensure you have the necessary skills to be successful in the role.

What do I need to do the role?

Ideally, you’ll need to have been an Operative or Labourer with an LGV or Forklift licence with a strong understanding of Health and Safety and able to comply with Health Safety & Environmental processes and procedures.

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Health and Safety Qualification
  • Strong IT skills

What else do I need to know?

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • 4 on 4 off shift rotation (Days)
  • Training and development opportunities
