Babcock is looking for a Programme Engineering Manager to join the Senior Leadership team based in Devonport, Auckland.
About the role
As the MFSS Programme Engineering Manager, you’ll take on a pivotal leadership role, guiding multidisciplinary teams to ensure the success of New Zealand’s most critical naval and commercial marine engineering projects. You will oversee asset management, maintenance planning, and engineering change proposals, ensuring all tasks are delivered to the highest standard. Your expertise will drive technical decision-making and the smooth application of engineering processes to meet both program and customer objectives.
This is an opportunity to engage with senior engineers, program directors, and key stakeholders across Babcock Australasia and globally, influencing best practices in maritime engineering. Your role in this senior position offers both the chance to mentor the next generation of engineers and the ability to shape high-impact projects, contributing to New Zealand’s naval readiness and maritime capabilities.
About you
You are an experienced engineering leader with a deep understanding of maritime and defence environments. You have approximately 14 years of engineering experience, including at least four years in leadership. Your expertise spans asset management, maintenance planning, and configuration management. With a strong problem-solving mindset, you excel in making complex engineering decisions. You are passionate about leading teams and fostering talent development. Your communication skills allow you to confidently present technical information and lead engineering discussions.

Key Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (accredited under the Washington Accord)
- Professional Engineer category membership through a recognised body
- Chartered status in an engineering body
- Ability to obtain and maintain New Zealand Defence Security Clearance (NZSIS Secret Vetting)
