Program Manager

About the role

Our Engineering Services section partners with the Royal New Zealand Navy to provide complete engineering, maintenance, repair and overhaul services to the entire RNZN fleet.  Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role manages a portfolio of Engineering Change projects (ECP) ensuring delivery is to schedule, quality and budget.

 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide subject matter expertise, ensuring the portfolio is effectively planned, scheduled, finances managed and stakeholders kept up to date.Lead a team of project managers responsible for the delivery of the ECP portfolio, including all routine reporting, risk management and resource planning.  
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across engineering services, ECP stakeholders and the RNZN.
  • Management and reporting on the ECP’s, specifically forecasts, budgets and accurate cost reporting. Develop business cases where appropriate.
  • Identify, develop and manage improvement opportunities across the MEST

 

About you

You will have experience with project and business governance and project and portfolio management. You have demonstrated success in project management, preferably delivering engineering configuration change projects. You have a track record of delivering and managing business unit performance improvements and have the ability to create and sustain efficient business processes. Your authentic and inspirational leadership style, along with exceptional verbal and written communication skills and advanced skills in MS Office will be highly valued.  You also bring your experience in the creation of business unit process, procedures and strategies and have the ability to drive change and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement. Engineering degree or equivalent as well as knowledge of naval operations, engineering principles, security requirements and regulatory frameworks are desirable but not essential.
