Babcock New Zealand are looking to expand our highly skilled team in Devonport by adding some experienced Fabricator Welders.

Hourly rates
- $40+ per hour (trade cert essential)
- 1.5x paid after 40hrs
- 2x paid after 43hrs
- Additional benefits
- Full time/40hrs per week
Key Responsibilities
- Heavy Fabrication: Construct fabrications from materials such as Mild Steel, Aluminium, Stainless Steel, and Copper Nickel with varying thicknesses.
- Fabrication Machinery: Operate heavy fabrication workshop machinery, including Rolls, Hydraulic Presses, Guillotines, and CNC Profile Cutters for plate, pipe, and beam manipulation.
- Welding: Undertake welding of ferrous and non-ferrous materials using various welding equipment such as TIG, MIG, and Stick welding, following written welding specifications.
- Pipe Systems: Fabricate medium and heavy gauge pipe systems using existing or old systems as references.
- Technical Proficiency: Read and work from engineering drawings or plans to develop new products and assist with maintenance recommendations and estimates.
Key Required Skills
- Trade Certificate: Hold a Level 4 Trade Certificate in Heavy Fabrication.
- Welding Qualifications: Possess relevant welding qualifications.
- Experience: Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in Marine or Industrial Heavy Fabrication.
- Driver's License: Hold a full NZ Driver's License (Class 1 minimum).
- Problem Solving: Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, along with strong communication and customer relations skills.
The perfect applicant for this role is a highly skilled Heavy Fabricator with a Level 4 Trade Certificate, relevant welding qualifications, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the field.
They are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels in problem-solving, and can make decisions confidently, even in emergencies. Excellent communication and customer relation skills are a must. The ideal candidate is a team player who can also work under pressure while maintaining composure and focus on the task at hand.
