Communications Advisor

About the role

Are you looking for a role that enables you to use your strong writing skills and creative flair? This is not your standard communications role - it will provide you with that little extra challenge where no two days are the same!


You will coordinate and deliver communications activities to support our blended workforce of Babcock and New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) personnel in a unique environment. Helping to engage and inform a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, you will help to drive our campaigns and initiatives. Having the opportunity to make influential contributions to the important work our organisation does in enabling the NZDF to protect New Zealand and our Pacific neighbours. Your day-to-day could include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of Babcock’s communications strategy and associated activities across multiple channels;
  • Providing communications guidance and advice to key leaders across the organisation;
  • Coordinating and delivering integrated and targeted communications activities to engage our audiences;
  • Extracting stories from our technical workforce and producing communications to engage our internal audiences and key stakeholders Preparing written content for use across a variety of channels, including articles, social media and website content, and more.


About you

Not only are you a dedicated communications professional with a passion for engaging people through a range of channels and activities, you’ll enjoy building relationships, being hands on, and be a go getter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, using your creative flair to contribute to the direction of the organisation.


Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or other relevant post graduate qualifications (or studying towards) in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business or related area.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail.
  • A real passion for communications that engage people and deliver results.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to positively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
