General Description of Job

The ADEWS Lead Engineer will ensure services provided under the ADEWS Contract and elements of the Engineering Services (ES) agreement are delivered in accordance with applicable performance targets whilst constantly fostering a strong ethos of a Health & Safety culture.

As the ADEWS lead, you will deliver the service ensuring all elements are provided. Working with other members from within Mission Systems, you will use your skills and experience to ensure customer assets are maintained to the appropriate standards. Providing technical assessment and interpretation of inspections, the monitoring of data including structural and failures analysis. You will have a strong understanding of radome structures, materials selection, and the condition of ancillary equipment. You will design the response to all tasked requests for carrying out remedial action as a result of inspections or faults raised by the customer.


Main Tasks

  • You will be coordinating structural surveys using external Structural Engineers, Babcock or other supplier
  • You will carry out annual assessments of each asset and preparing reports for review
  • Providing technical assessment and interpretation of inspection monitoring data including failures analysis
  • On receipt of fault/maintenance request you will create the Tasked Approval Form (TAF) in conjunction with others within Mission Systems the most cost effective method
  • You will be required to identify the skills required to support you when delivering a TAF
  •  Look to implement new systems that adds value hilst constantly  reviewing / assessing existing systems
  • You will provide hands-on technical support, in order to deliver preventative and corrective maintenance activities across the range of services as well as specialist support in your area of expertise
  • Ensure all activities are planned and delivered in the most efficient manner. Ensuring you adhere to appropriate engineering standards, as dictated by Babcock standards, Customer standards or professional bodies, ensuring best practice is employed in all activities
  • To ensure all applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Subsidiary Performance Indicators (SPI) remain on target
  • To contribute to the recruitment, induction and development of team members, including the maintenance of their mandatory health, safety and security training
  • To create a team environment which responds to changes in customer requirements. Contribute to the identification of knowledge and skills shortfalls within the team, and to plan to address the deficiencies, in order to provide a robust service
  • To manage the continuity of the service delivery by ensuring all system applications for access, clearances, etc., are maintained at all time
  • Provide timely updates for periodic meetings

 

What do I need to do the job?

 

  • HNC/HND or other NVQ level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent with experience
  • Registered with Professional Accredited Body
  • Strong IT literacy including a strong understanding of maximising the effective utilisation of technology
  • Qualified Risk Assessor
  •  Qualified First Aid at Work
  • Working at Height/Climbing
  • National Rigging Certificate (NRC) Accredited (Desirable)
