About the Role
 

We are looking for a full time Production Support Engineer to join our Defence engineering team based in Osborne. This role will provide production engineering support of critical systems for the Collins Class submarines including the Weapons Discharge System (WDS), Submerged Signal Ejectors (SSEs) and Air Purification Units (APUs) during maintenance and refurbishment activities. Responsibilities include:
 

  • Provide engineering and technical support to workshop refurbishment activities as required to ensure refurbished equipment within Babcock’s scope of supply meets the original design intent.
  • Conduct configuration control surveys and provide resolution direction for any configuration deviations identified.
  • Ensure all workpack associated engineering activities are completed within agreed project schedules.
  • Assess deviation requests to support equipment refurbishment activities and provide resolution direction.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and raise reports detailing findings of said investigations.
  • Provide Set to Work, Testing and Trails support and defect resolution support.
     

About you

As an experienced Production Support Engineer, you will pride yourself on your ability to analyse data and identify and implement improvement activities. You will be detail focused and will demonstrate your ability to use initiative and prioritise your workload. You will have exceptional communication skills and possess the following:

 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Preferably with, or working towards chartered professional engineer (CPEng) status or similar.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Engineering experience in either Marine / Defence / Defence Industry.
  • Previous experience with ERP/MRP systems, Teamcenter, MathCAD and NX software packages.
  • Previous experience with mission and safety critical, electrically controlled, hydraulically actuated mechanical systems in a submarine environment.
